Valsartan (80mg),HCTZ(12.5mg)
Introduction
Valsartan 80mg and Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) 12.5mg, marketed as VALSARTONE 80H, is a powerful combination medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Valsartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), works by relaxing blood vessels, making it easier for the heart to pump blood. HCTZ, a thiazide diuretic, helps reduce fluid retention and decrease blood pressure by increasing urine output.
Uses
This medication is primarily prescribed for the management of hypertension. By controlling high blood pressure, VALSARTONE 80H helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.
Dosage
The typical dose of VALSARTONE 80H is one tablet per day. It is important to take this medication exactly as prescribed by a healthcare professional. The dosage may be adjusted based on the patient's response and any underlying health conditions. Patients should swallow the tablet whole with water, with or without food. It is advisable to take the medication at the same time each day to maintain consistent blood levels.
Side Effects
Common side effects of VALSARTONE 80H may include dizziness, lightheadedness, or dehydration due to the diuretic effect of HCTZ. Some patients may experience increased urination, which usually diminishes after the body adjusts to the medication. Serious side effects are rare but can include severe dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, or kidney problems.
Price
In India, the price of VALSARTONE 80H can vary depending on the manufacturer and the pharmacy. On average, a month's supply (30 tablets) can cost around ₹150 to ₹300. Patients should check with local pharmacies for the most accurate pricing and available discounts.
