Olmesartan 10 mg is an antihypertensive medicine used to help control high blood pressure. Its active ingredient, olmesartan medoxomil, belongs to the angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) class. It works by blocking the action of angiotensin II, a substance that narrows blood vessels. This helps blood vessels relax, improves blood flow, and lowers blood pressure. Maintaining blood pressure within the recommended range is important for reducing the risk of serious complications, including stroke, heart disease, and kidney damage associated with uncontrolled hypertension. Olmesartan may be used alone or alongside other blood pressure medicines when additional control is needed. The appropriate dose depends on the patient's condition, age, response to treatment, and kidney function. Possible side effects include dizziness, light-headedness, and low blood pressure. In some people, olmesartan may affect kidney function or increase potassium levels, making monitoring important. Rarely, severe and persistent diarrhoea with significant weight loss may occur.
कैसे उपयोग करें
Follow the recommended dose: Take the amount advised by your healthcare professional. Do not increase, reduce, or change the dose independently. Take it regularly: Olmesartan is commonly taken once daily. Try to take it at the same time each day to maintain a consistent routine. Follow food instructions: Olmesartan can generally be taken with or without food. Follow the directions supplied with your particular product. Swallow with water: Take the tablet as directed. Do not crush or split it unless your pharmacist confirms that this is appropriate for your formulation. If you miss a dose: Take the missed dose when you remember unless it is nearly time for your next dose. If it is nearly time, skip the missed dose and continue your usual schedule. Never take two doses together. Monitor your blood pressure: Check your readings as recommended and attend follow-up appointments, even when you feel well. Attend blood tests when advised: Your healthcare professional may monitor kidney function and potassium levels, especially if you have kidney disease or diabetes. Check other medicines: Inform your healthcare professional about potassium supplements, potassium-containing salt substitutes, other blood pressure medicines, and anti-inflammatory painkillers such as ibuprofen. Prevent dizziness: Stand up slowly from sitting or lying down, particularly when starting treatment or increasing the dose. Maintain healthy habits: Follow advice on salt intake, physical activity, weight management, and smoking cessation. Continue treatment appropriately: High blood pressure often has no symptoms. Do not stop taking olmesartan simply because your readings improve.
