Rivastigmine is a prescription medicine belonging to the cholinesterase inhibitor class. It is used to manage symptoms of mild to moderate dementia associated with Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease dementia. Rivastigmine works by inhibiting enzymes that break down acetylcholine, a chemical messenger involved in memory, learning, and cognitive function. By increasing acetylcholine availability in the brain, it may help some patients manage symptoms related to memory, thinking, and everyday activities. However, Rivastigmine does not cure dementia or stop the underlying disease from progressing.

Follow Your Doctor's Prescription: Use Rivastigmine at the prescribed dose and frequency. Do not increase or change the dose without medical advice. Capsules: Swallow capsules with water, preferably with morning and evening meals, according to your prescription and product instructions. Transdermal Patches: Apply one patch to clean, dry, intact skin as directed. Remove the previous patch before applying a new one, and rotate application sites. Never wear more patches than prescribed. Maintain a Routine: Administer the medicine at consistent times or replace the patch according to the prescribed schedule. Missed Dose or Treatment Interruption: Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you miss several doses or stop treatment for more than three days. You may need to restart at a lower dose under medical supervision. Monitor Side Effects: Report persistent nausea, vomiting, appetite loss, dizziness, fainting, or unexplained weight loss to your healthcare professional. Inform Your Doctor About Other Medicines: Tell your doctor about all medicines you take, especially other cholinesterase inhibitors and medicines that affect heart rate.
