Isosorbide Mononitrate SR 40 mg is a sustained-release nitrate medicine prescribed to help prevent and manage angina pectoris in patients with certain heart conditions. Angina occurs when the heart muscle does not receive enough oxygen-rich blood, often because of narrowed coronary arteries. Isosorbide mononitrate relaxes blood vessels, reducing the amount of work the heart must perform and helping prevent episodes of chest pain. The SR formulation is designed to release the active ingredient gradually according to the specific product's formulation. Your doctor will determine the appropriate dose and schedule based on your symptoms, medical history, other medicines, and the product prescribed. This medicine may be included in a broader cardiovascular treatment plan alongside lifestyle changes and other heart medicines. Common side effects can include headache, dizziness, weakness, and light-headedness, particularly when starting treatment. Alcohol and other medicines that lower blood pressure can increase the risk of dizziness or fainting. Do not take Isosorbide Mononitrate with sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil, or similar erectile dysfunction medicines, because the combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure. Riociguat must also not be combined with nitrates.
कैसे उपयोग करें
Follow your prescribed dose: Take the amount and number of doses recommended by your doctor. Do not increase the dose or change the schedule yourself. Take it at the recommended time: Follow your prescribed daily schedule consistently. Some nitrate regimens require a daily nitrate-free interval to help prevent tolerance; your doctor will determine whether this applies to your formulation. Swallow the tablet correctly: Swallow sustained-release tablets whole with water unless the specific product leaflet provides different instructions. Do not crush or chew them, as this may interfere with their release mechanism. Follow food instructions: Check the product leaflet or ask your pharmacist whether your particular tablet should be taken with or without food. If you miss a dose: Follow the leaflet's missed-dose instructions or ask your pharmacist. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one. Avoid dangerous drug combinations: Never combine this medicine with sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil, or riociguat. Tell your doctor about all other prescription medicines, over-the-counter products, and supplements you use. Watch for side effects: Headache, dizziness, and light-headedness can occur. Sit or lie down if you feel faint and seek medical advice if symptoms persist or become severe. Do not stop treatment suddenly: Speak with your doctor before discontinuing regular treatment because angina symptoms may worsen. Know its limitations: This medicine is used to prevent angina, not to treat a sudden attack. Follow your prescribed emergency plan and seek urgent medical help for new, severe, or persistent chest pain.
