CILOSTAZONE 100 Mg
Cilostazol (100mg)
Cilostazol 100 mg is a medication primarily used to treat intermittent claudication, a condition caused by reduced blood flow to the legs, leading to pain and discomfort while walking. This medication contains CILOSTAZONE 100 Mg, a phosphodiesterase type 3 (PDE3) inhibitor that helps improve blood flow and reduce symptoms. This article provides an in-depth look into CILOSTAZONE 100, covering its uses, dosage, side effects, composition, and more, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of this medication.
Composition
CILOSTAZONE 100 contains:
- Cilostazol: 100 mg
Mechanism of Action
Cilostazol works by inhibiting the enzyme phosphodiesterase type 3 (PDE3). This inhibition leads to an increase in cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) within blood vessels, resulting in vasodilation and inhibition of platelet aggregation. By widening the blood vessels and preventing blood clots, Cilostazol improves blood flow to the limbs, reducing the pain and discomfort associated with intermittent claudication.
Uses
CILOSTAZONE 100 is prescribed for:
- Treatment of intermittent claudication
- Improvement of walking distance in patients with peripheral arterial disease (PAD)
- Management of symptoms related to poor blood circulation in the legs
Dosage
The dosage of CILOSTAZONE 100 should be individualized based on the patient’s condition, response to treatment, and tolerance. Typically, the recommended starting dose is:
- Adults: 100 mg twice daily, taken 30 minutes before or 2 hours after breakfast and dinner
How to Take CILOSTAZONE 100
