Understanding GRANISTROM 1
GRANISTROM 1 belongs to a class of medications known as 5-HT3 receptor antagonists. It works by blocking the action of serotonin, a neurotransmitter involved in triggering nausea and vomiting signals in the brain. By inhibiting these signals, GRANISTROM 1 helps prevent and alleviate chemotherapy-induced and radiation-induced nausea and vomiting.
Key Uses of GRANISTROM 1
GRANISTROM 1 is primarily used for the following purposes:
- Chemotherapy-induced nausea and Vomiting (CINV): It is effective in preventing and reducing nausea and vomiting associated with various chemotherapy regimens.
- Radiation Therapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting: GRANISTROM 1 can also be used to manage nausea and vomiting caused by radiation therapy.
- Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting (PONV): In some cases, it may be prescribed to prevent nausea and vomiting after surgical procedures.
How GRANISTROM 1 Works
Granisetron Hydrochloride, the active ingredient in GRANISTROM 1, selectively blocks serotonin receptors in the gut and central nervous system. This action inhibits the transmission of nausea and vomiting signals, providing relief and preventing these symptoms from occurring or worsening during cancer treatments or surgeries.
