Medicine information
Uses & overview
AMDULES 2.5 by Steris Healthcare delivers a precise 2.5 mg dose of Amlodipine, a long-acting calcium channel blocker designed for accurate titration and gentle blood pressure management. Formulated for high tolerability, AMDULES 2.5 inhibits the movement of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle cells and cardiac muscle, causing peripheral vasodilation and reducing systemic vascular resistance without affecting heart rate or cardiac conduction. Key Ingredients & Clinical Benefits: Amlodipine (2.5 mg): A long-acting dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (CCB) that selectively inhibits calcium ion influx across vascular smooth muscle and myocardial cell membranes, inducing systemic arterial vasodilation and coronary artery relaxation. Key Uses & Clinical Benefits: Smooth 24-Hour Blood Pressure Control: Effectively lowers systemic blood pressure in mild hypertension or in elderly and fragile patients requiring gradual dose introduction. Chronic Stable Angina Relief: Prevents exertional chest pain by dilating main coronary arteries and arterioles, increasing myocardial oxygen supply. Vasospastic Angina Management: Relieves chest discomfort caused by coronary artery spasms (Prinzmetal's angina). Reduces Cardiac Afterload: Lowers systemic vascular resistance, reducing the total workload on the heart and improving overall cardiac efficiency. Gentle Low-Dose Titration: The 2.5 mg strength allows physicians to fine-tune dosage regimens, minimizing dose-dependent side effects like peripheral pedal edema.
