Uses & overview
Tobramycin Ophthalmic Ointment is a prescription antibiotic medicine used for the treatment of certain bacterial infections affecting the eye and surrounding ocular tissues. It contains Tobramycin, an aminoglycoside antibiotic that works by interfering with bacterial protein production, helping inhibit or eliminate susceptible bacteria. Because it is an ophthalmic antibiotic, it should be used only when a bacterial infection is suspected or confirmed and according to the advice of an eye-care professional.
How to use
Tobramycin Ophthalmic Ointment should be used exactly as prescribed by your ophthalmologist. It is an antibiotic ointment used for certain bacterial eye infections. Correct application helps prevent contamination and ensures the medicine remains in contact with the eye as intended. Wash your hands: Wash and dry your hands thoroughly before applying the ointment. Check the tube: Check the medicine name, strength, expiry date, and packaging. Do not use the ointment if the tube is damaged or the product appears abnormal. Prepare the eye: Tilt your head backward or lie down comfortably and gently pull the lower eyelid downward to create a small pocket. Apply the ointment: Hold the tube close to the eye without allowing the tip to touch the eye, eyelashes, eyelids, or surrounding skin. Apply the amount prescribed by your doctor into the lower eyelid pocket. Close your eye: Gently close your eye for a short period after application. Avoid rubbing or squeezing the eyelids. Prevent contamination: Replace the cap securely immediately after use. Keep the tube tip clean and never share the ointment with another person. Follow the prescribed schedule: Apply Tobramycin Ophthalmic Ointment at the recommended times and continue for the full duration prescribed by your ophthalmologist.
