KETONALOG ALFA Tablets are formulated with alpha ketoanalogues, which are used as part of nutritional management for certain patients with chronic kidney disease. Ketoanalogues can serve as precursors to essential amino acids while providing less nitrogen than conventional amino acid supplementation. They are generally used together with a prescribed low-protein or very-low-protein diet to help provide nutritional support while reducing the nitrogenous waste burden associated with protein metabolism. Clinical evidence suggests that ketoanalogue supplementation with a controlled protein diet may help preserve kidney function and improve certain metabolic parameters in appropriately selected patients. KETONALOG ALFA should be used only according to the advice of a nephrologist, physician, or qualified dietitian. The appropriate diet, dosage, duration of treatment, and monitoring requirements depend on kidney function, nutritional status, and the patient's overall medical condition.
