Medicine information
Uses & overview
Rosuvastatin & Clopidogrel is a combination medicine prescribed to eligible patients who require cholesterol management and antiplatelet treatment to help reduce the risk of certain cardiovascular complications. It contains two active ingredients that work differently to support cardiovascular health. Rosuvastatin belongs to the statin group of medicines. It works by reducing cholesterol production in the liver, helping lower LDL (bad) cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Clopidogrel is an antiplatelet medicine that reduces platelet aggregation, helping prevent the formation of harmful blood clots. Depending on a patient's medical history, this combination may be prescribed following certain heart-related events or procedures, or for other appropriate cardiovascular indications.
How to use
Follow the prescribed dosage: Take the exact dose recommended by your doctor. Do not change the dose or frequency without medical advice. Take it consistently: Take the medicine at the recommended time each day. Follow the product leaflet and your healthcare professional's instructions regarding food and administration. Swallow with water: Take the tablet as directed. Do not crush or split it unless your pharmacist or doctor confirms that doing so is appropriate for your particular formulation. Handle missed doses carefully: Follow the instructions in the patient leaflet or ask your pharmacist what to do. Never take an extra dose to compensate for a missed one. Do not stop clopidogrel independently: Stopping clopidogrel, particularly after a coronary stent or heart attack, may increase the risk of blood clots. Speak with your doctor before discontinuing treatment. Inform your doctor about other medicines: Tell your healthcare professional about anticoagulants, painkillers such as ibuprofen, other antiplatelet medicines, and supplements because some combinations can increase bleeding risk. Monitor for side effects: Contact your doctor if you experience unexplained bruising, persistent muscle pain, or unusual bleeding. Seek urgent medical attention for black stools, vomiting blood, or bleeding that will not stop. Attend follow-up appointments: Your doctor may monitor cholesterol levels, liver function, and other relevant health indicators to assess treatment effectiveness and safety.
