Medicine information
Uses & overview
Sacubitril & Valsartan is a prescription combination medicine used to treat certain patients with chronic heart failure. It belongs to a class of medicines known as angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitors (ARNIs). This combination is designed to help the heart work more efficiently and reduce the strain placed on the cardiovascular system. Sacubitril works by inhibiting neprilysin, an enzyme responsible for breaking down substances that help relax blood vessels and promote sodium excretion. Valsartan blocks angiotensin II receptors, helping relax blood vessels and reduce blood pressure. Together, these ingredients can improve heart failure management and reduce the risk of hospitalization and cardiovascular complications in eligible patients. Doctors may prescribe Sacubitril & Valsartan as part of a broader heart failure treatment plan alongside other appropriate medicines and lifestyle recommendations. The correct dose depends on the patient's condition, blood pressure, kidney function, potassium levels, previous medication use, and treatment response.
How to use
Follow the prescribed dose: Your doctor will select the appropriate strength based on your heart condition, blood pressure, kidney function, and previous medicines. Do not change your dose independently. Take it regularly: This medicine is commonly taken twice daily, approximately 12 hours apart, according to your prescription. Try to maintain a consistent schedule. Take with or without food: Sacubitril & Valsartan can generally be taken with or without food. Follow the directions provided with your specific product.
