Medicine information
Uses & overview
Sumatriptan & Naproxen Tablets are a combination medicine prescribed by doctors for the acute treatment of migraine attacks, with or without aura. You can buy them online from a licensed pharmacy with a valid prescription and get them delivered to your doorstep anywhere in India. This combination attacks migraine in two ways. Sumatriptan belongs to the triptan group of medicines. It narrows swollen blood vessels in the brain and blocks pain signals, which helps relieve headache, nausea, and sensitivity to light and sound. Naproxen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that reduces the inflammation and pain linked to migraine and helps prevent the headache from returning. Together, they often give faster and longer-lasting relief than either medicine alone. It is meant to treat a migraine attack once it has started, not to prevent attacks, and it should not be used for ordinary headaches.
How to use
This medicine treats a migraine attack that has already started. Follow the points below along with your doctor’s instructions and the directions on the product label. Dosage: The usual adult dose is one tablet (commonly sumatriptan 50 mg with naproxen 500 mg) taken at the first sign of a migraine. Follow your doctor’s exact instructions and never increase the dose on your own. Best time to take: Take it as soon as the migraine starts, ideally with or after some food to reduce stomach upset and acidity from naproxen. How to swallow: Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break it unless your doctor tells you to. If the headache returns: If the migraine comes back after improving, a second tablet may be taken, but only after at least 2 hours since the first. Do not take more than 2 tablets in 24 hours, or as your doctor advises. If the first tablet does not work: Do not take a second tablet for the same attack if the first gave no relief at all. Check with your doctor first. Limit frequency: Do not use it more than 2 to 3 days a week, as frequent use can cause medication-overuse headaches. Avoid other similar medicines: Do not take other triptans, ergot-type migraine medicines, or other NSAIDs such as ibuprofen or diclofenac at the same time unless your doctor approves.
